Award Night: green for glory, red for shame

One night, at the end of the season. Every award pays real poker chips: green for glory, red for shame.

One night, three acts

Award Night runs from worst to best.

  1. The Roll of Shame. The red chips come out first: the Glass Jaw (after a wipe, the next hole usually goes down with it), the Tilt Merchant, the Snake Magnet, the Rollercoaster, and the Wooden Spoon for the worst season balance in the group.
  2. The Grind. The long run of green that nearly everyone collects: Iron Man, Birdie Machine, Beat Machine, Eagle Eye, Round of the Year and plenty more.
  3. The Big Chips. The Major Champion, the Banker for the best season balance, the Benefactor for whoever paid the most into the trip pot, and last of all, the Season Champion.

Poker chips, not cash

Everyone starts the night with nothing. Awards pay physical poker chips from the organiser’s chip case, and you never hand any back. The chips never touch anyone’s balance or the pot: they’re the night’s score. Before the night, the app works out exactly how many chips of each colour to stack, so the organiser only has to count them out.

The Final Count

At the end of the night, every red cancels a green. Your chip total is your seed for the Finals, and your seed is a head start on the trip.

Ties

Chips don’t split. Tie for an award and you both take it in full, red chips included.

Good to know

Who runs it?

The organiser switches Award Night on for the season and brings a poker chip set. The app lines up the awards, the order and the chips.

Can the organiser change the awards?

Yes. Every award is a default: the organiser can tune it or skip it before the night.

What decides the seeding?

Your chip total at the Final Count. A tie is broken on season GC points, then average stableford.

What’s the Wooden Spoon?

The red chip for the worst season balance in the group.

Every number and every edge case is on the rules page.
