Back Yourself: you against your own golf
Call it before you tee off. The Caddie sets your target from your own form. Hit it and the win lands on your balance; miss it and your stake feeds the pot.
How it works
- Pick what you’re backing. Your stableford total, or a count: birdies, net birdies, eagles, or keeping your wipes down.
- Pick how hard. Evens, 2:1 or 4:1. The Caddie sets a personal target for each one from your own scoring record.
- Call it before you tee off. It locks when you tee off, and the group can see it.
- Settled off your scorecard. Hit your target and the win lands on your balance with the round. Miss it and your stake feeds the trip pot. Nobody has to result anything.
Why the targets are personal
The Caddie reads your own rounds, so every target is equally hard for everyone. For a 6-marker, 2:1 might be four or more net birdies and 4:1 five or more. A 20-marker gets different numbers, because it’s your own golf you’re up against.
The guard rails
- It unlocks after your first five rounds, because the Caddie needs your history to set a fair target.
- Once it’s set, it can’t be cancelled. That’s the one thing you can’t do. If the round is washed out, it rolls on to your next counted round.
- There’s a ceiling on how much you can have riding on one day.
