The Trip Pot: every dollar ends up in one place
Every dollar ends up in one place: the group’s trip pot. It only ever fills. Then you go.
One pot, for the trip
Golf Champs keeps a running pot for your group’s trip at the end of the season. Every member’s regular pot payment goes in. So does every trigger, every lost call-out and every missed target. It only ever fills.
A deposit, not a transfer
Losing to the pot isn’t paying a mate. It’s a deposit into a trip you’re all going on, so nobody is out of pocket to anybody. It’s why the group cheers a blow-up.
Everyone can see it
The pot shows what’s in it, the goal and how long is left. The pilot group’s pot reached $5,227.22 against a $10,000 goal, three months out from Vegas in December.
One bill, nothing off the pot
The organiser pays one bill for the app. Everyone’s share is added to their pot payment and the whole bill comes off the organiser’s, so every player pays exactly the same and the pot still gets every dollar. It’s from $60 a month for the whole group, and cheaper per head the bigger it gets.
Golf Champs never holds the money
The pot sits in the organiser’s own Wise account, and the app keeps the count. Payments can tick themselves off as they land, for Australian accounts for now. See The Pot Ties Out.
Good to know
Who holds the money?
The organiser, in their own account. Golf Champs never holds it.
Does anything come off the pot?
No. The app’s bill is split evenly through everyone’s pot payments.
What goes into it?
Every member’s regular pot payment, every trigger, every lost call-out and every missed target.
What’s it for?
The trip at the end of the season. That’s the point of the whole thing.
Every number and every edge case is on the rules page.
